MilWest Geographic Areas of Interest
The territory once served by the former Chicago,
Milwaukee & Puget Sound Ry. (CM&PS)/Chicago, Milwaukee & St.Paul Ry (CM&StP)/Chicago,
Milwaukee, St Paul & Pacific RR(CMStP&P)/ "The Milwaukee Road" (MILW) west from
Mobridge, SD. This includes both the main and branch lines, and operating rights
over other railroads in parts of Western Dakotas, Montana, Northern Idaho,
Washington, and to Portland, OR.
MilWest Railroads of Interest:
CM&StP/ CMStP&P/ MILW in their former "Lines West"
territories. The associated lines include: The Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Ry
(BA&P); All predecessor lines built, operated, and/or purchased
by the former CM&PS and the Washington, Idaho & Montana Ry (WI&M);
the White Sulphur
Springs & Yellowstone Park Ry (WSS&YP), and the Pacific & Easern (P&E). Parts of the following successor
/"post-embargo" railroads operating over the former MILW's "Lines West" trackage
are also included: the Central Montana Railroad (CMR); the former Chehalis Western RR (CWR);
the Columbia Basin Ry (CBRY); Montana Western RR (MWR); Pend O'Reille Valley RR (POVA);
St Maries River RR (STMA); the former Seattle & North Coast RR (S&NC); South
Dakota Rail Authority (SDRA); Tacoma Eastern Ry (T&E); Toppenish, Simcoe &
Western RR (TSWR); the former Washington Central RR Co (WCRC); and the Rarus Ry
(RARW, previously operating the former BA&P). The "DISPATCH" covers the past and
current events on these lines for both modeling and historical information.
MilWest Time Period of Interest:
1905 to 1980/85 for the former CM&PS and the CM&StP/CMStP&P/MILW in their former "Lines
West", and the former BA&P; and to the present for the various successor lines listed above.
